FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the league located in my city?

We consider two or more teams in a city as a league location and not a particular physical gym location. Teams schedule there own games and game locations. We post game dates, times, and locations on the CBLHoopCity app News Feed when teams submit their new game announcements.

When does the season start?

Teams can start registering and playing game on January 1st of each year. Teams must have five or more players on its roster before they can schedule games on the app. The post-season cash prize tournaments start in October of each year. Click on the menu section to see the important league dates on the CBLHoopCity app.

How much does it cost to start a team?

We have four team level options. 6-Man teams are free. The 7-Man, 10-Man, and 14-Man team levels are all 100% tax deductible, so if you look at it from that perspective, all the team levels are FREE! Go to the Start a Team page on the website or download the CBLHoopCity app to get team cost information.

How can I get on a team or get drafted to a team?

The fastest way to get on a team is to know someone who has entered a team in our league and you ask them to draft you to their team. The other way to get on a team is to do a search for a team in your city or area on the CBLHoopCity app and you send a request to join their team. If you have a team, but you need players, you can do a search on the player profiles in your city and send them a draft request. The player will have the option to accept or decline your draft request in the CBLHoopCity app.

Does this league really have $1.6 million dollars in cash prizes?

YES! We really do have a $1.6 million dollar tournament cash prize structure for our league. The individual or organization that pays the team fee will receive the tournament cash prize. CBLHoopCity is not responsible for fulfilling any cash prize promises made to players by team owners/organizers. See the details here to get a thorough understanding of how we payout our cash prizes.

Can anybody play in your league?

YES! But there are some exceptions. We don't allow current professional (NBA, WNBA, Overseas), College, or High School players to play in our league. However, they can sponsor/own a team in our league. Be sure to see our Game Rules on the CBLHoopCity app.

Can we still play in other rec leagues and tournaments?

Yes! You can tether your team with other leagues and tournaments while playing in the CBLHoopCity league. Tethering is commonly known for being used with smartphones and wifi connections. Your smartphone (your CBLHoopCity team) can connect to any wifi connection (other leagues) if given access. The only requirement is that both teams be registered on the CBLHoopCity app and submit the post-game report (score) via the CBLHoopCity app. It's like the ole saying, killing two birds with one stone.

How do I get an invite to the CBL Accelerator and CBL Pro league?

To be considered or to receive an invitation to our CBL Accelerator you have to have played at least one season in our CBLHoopCity league. When we launch our CBL Pro League, those players will be selected from our CBL Accelerator.

How does the cash prize tournament work?

The tournaments are broken down into three divisions based on the league's team levels (7-Man, 10-Man, and 14-Man). Each team level will have a city, state, and region rounds before going on to the national tournament to play for the cash prizes. Be sure to see the league schedule and game rules in the menu section of the CBLHoopCity app.

I don't want to play or coach, but I want to own a team. Is that possible?

YES! The CBLHoopCity league is built for that. Just let us know who you want to be your team's player captain so we can give them the capability to manage (draft/waive players, schedule games, etc.) your team on the CBLHoopCity app.
